Session Description:
Salt is a major driver of hypertension throughout the world, although some investigators dispute this concept. Increased potassium intake has always been advocated but lacked trials with important end points. This session will highlight recent information that places potassium-based salt substitutes at the forefront of blood pressure lowering strategies.
Learning Objectives:
Review recent evidence about salt substitution and blood pressure. Improve understanding on how potassium-based salt substitution needs to be considered in BP lowering approaches. Enhance knowledge of salt reduction strategies.
