Translational Discoveries Paving the Way for Innovations in Managing Failing Kidney Complications

Session Description:
This session is designed to inform participants about the latest discoveries in the laboratory in the area of management of complications of failed kidneys. Speakers will discuss recent findings related to uremic toxins, anemia management, CKD-MBD and inflammation in advanced CKD. Emphasis will be placed on how latest laboratory discoveries could potentially be translated to innovations at the bedside.  
Learning Objectives:
Identify key uremic toxins, possible contributions of uremic toxins to adverse outcomes and potential approaches to target uremic toxins. Understand how Nobe Prize discoveries about anemia have yielded new potential therapies for management of anemia in patients with kidney diseases. Review latest discoveries in the area of CKD-MBD and forecast how these findings will impact clinical management in the future. Discuss challenges and opportunities for targetting inflammation in patients with kidney failure.
