Session Description:
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is common in critically ill patients, affecting almost one in four critically ill children and one in three neonates. Higher stages of AKI are associated with worse short and long-term outcomes. In resource-limited countries advanced AKI is a frequent cause of mortality because of the unavailability of renal replacement therapy.
Learning Objectives:
The objective of this session is to highlight the adequate fluid management during different AKI stages and to share experience on AKI treatment in resource-limited setting. The last lecture will stress the importance of global registries to study the epidemiology of kidney failure and renal replacement therapy around the globe.
