Professor Henry Pleass trained in both HPB Surgery and Liver, Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation, having completed an MD investigating cell mediated rejection within a porcine Xenograft model. This research inspired a lifelong passion for transplantation and the need to improve patient and graft outcomes. He has published widely on many aspects of both organ donation and transplantation and has been the first surgeon within Australia to use normothermic machine perfusion in clinical Kidney transplantation. He has held numerous leadership positions within Australia and is an active clinician, surgical trainer and academic surgeon.
